Rain was baptized as a Catholic to share the faith with Kim Tae-hee in July 2014.

Cube DC Entertainment, Rain’s former agency, said in 2014, “It was planned a long time ago. Please don’t stretch the meaning of it as marriage is impending.”

Only family members and a few close friends attended the baptism at a cathedral in Gwangju, Gyeonggi Province, 30 kilometers southeast of Seoul.

Rain was reportedly atheist before the baptism. Kim and her family have been devout Catholic.

Veteran actor Ahn Sung-ki was named Rain’s godfather for his baptism.

Rain’s baptism name is Michael, while Kim’s is Verda.
