Gayoung of K-pop girl group Stellar appeared as a radio DJ on Naver’s V app Saturday to host her 10th radio session.

“How have you been for the past week everyone? I have a light-up sign that says ‘Radio in Gayoung’ now. Isn’t it pretty?” Gayoung said as she began her midnight radio program.

During the program, she read stories and messages from fans as well as played music requested by them, including indie band Sister’s Barbershop’s “Unexpected Truth” and Girlfriend’s “Running Through Time.”

Gayoung read viewers’ real-time comments, one of which said, “Honestly, you lied about your age right? You are probably 20 years old.”

“No, actually I am really old. As of this year, I’m at that age when my mom got married. But I don’t think aging is a sad thing. It means I have accumulated more experience and memories in my life,” Gayoung said.

“Age is nothing but a number. It’s what you make of it. Age means wisdom and experience. I like that,” said the 25-year-old Stellar member.
Gayoung went on to talk about movies she watched lately. “I’ve watched just about everything that’s in theaters right now. ‘Will You Be There’ was my favorite,” she said.

“I also watched ‘La La Land.’ It made me think a lot. The cinematography and music was really good. The music just keeps playing in my head.”
As for her film preferences, Gayoung said she enjoys watching realistic and historical movies.

Gayoung wrapped up the night’s broadcast by playing Lee So-ra’s “Don’t Say It’s Not Love,” a song requested by a close friend who is going to Russia next week.

“Thank you so much for tuning in today everyone. Happy New Year to everyone. I hope that this year will be full of happiness. Let’s meet again next week. Good night,” Gayoung said.

GFriend

K-pop group Girlfriend held a live midnight broadcast via the V app to briefly talk with fans after finishing a concert and shooting a TV show in Taiwan on Saturday.

“Hello everyone, GFriend is in Taiwan right now. We just came back to our hotel after wrapping up our concert here. Thanks for tuning in at such a late hour,” said Sowon.

“It’s super quiet here right? Let’s go find the rest of the members,” she said.

Sowon moved the camera around to show each member of Girlfriend frozen in action. They were partaking in the “mannequin challenge,” a viral internet video trend in which people remain frozen in place like mannequins while a moving camera films them.

The challenge came to an end as the group’s members burst into laughter and greeted viewers.

“We wanted to do something fun but there wasn’t much we could do in a hotel room. so we did a mannequin challenge which may have seemed ridiculous,” said Sowon.

The group went on to thank Taiwanese fans for their support in helping Girlfriend appear on a Taiwanese TV show for the first time.
“Xie, xie,” the group members said, which means “thank you” in Chinese.

Girlfriend wrapped up the night’s broadcast by wishing fans good night and sweet dreams.
