Rap Monster, leader of South Korean boy band BTS, unveiled a new song Sunday night. He shared his self-produced song “Always” from the beginning of the year via SoundCloud, also posting the lyrics on BTS’ official blog.

“I made and prerecorded the song in early 2016. When I was going through a hard time, I didn’t want to let those feelings go, so I made a record of them. Thankfully, I am all good now! And I decided to share the song with you,” he said.

Rap Monster added, “A sad song can be a great comfort at times. Happy 2017!”

As the song spread among enthusiastic fans, a hashtag reading “Always love you, Nam-joon” ranked in the top spot on Twitter, referring to Rap Monster’s actual name, Kim Nam-joon.
