Gong Yoo and Lee Dong-wook, of fantasy-drama “Goblin,” hosted a live broadcast via Naver’s V app Tuesday to talk about the much-anticipated series.

Starring top stars Gong and Lee, who are expected to hit the screen on Fridays and Saturdays on cable channel tvN at 8 p.m. from Dec. 2, explained their roles in the television series and shared some behind-the-scene stories from the shoot.

Lee said he would play an “amnesiac grim reaper” who meets a goblin (played by Gong) looking for a human bride to end his immortal life.

He also tried to encourage Gong, who said, “It’s my first appearance in a drama series in four years, and playing a nonhuman was a bit hard for me.”

In response, Lee told him, “I know that you’ve been working really hard for the drama and I hope for the best result.”

Gong told viewers, “With our fellow actors and actresses, we are going to put in much effort for ‘Goblin’ to meet great expectations from you guys.”

The actors will be working with Kim Go-eun, a bride of the goblin in the drama.

Kim, who also appeared on the broadcast with them as part of promoting the drama, said “Some frustrating events have been occurring recently, but I hope ‘Goblin’ could bring back smiles to people,” likely referring to a presidential scandal that has engulfed the country.

The series drew much anticipation even before the premiere. Popular writer Kim Eun-sook and famed director Lee Eun-bok of “Descendants of the Sun” made a team once again for the drama.

Starring Gong, Lee, Kim, Yoo In-na and boy band BTOB’s Yook Sung-jae, fantasy-drama “Goblin” depicts the lives of an immortal goblin, a grim reaper and a teen girl who claims to be the goblin’s future bride.

Kihyun of Monsta X on Tuesday threw an impromptu birthday party for himself with another member Shownu.

During the live broadcast, Kihyun became a chef to make the best seaweed soup, a traditional must-have on birthdays in Korea.

“It’s always boring to broadcast the show alone, so today I’m joined by my cooking assistant Shownu,” Kihyun said.

The cooking duo managed to make seaweed soup and a rolled omelet after some trial and errors.

Soon after they tried their tasty dishes, bandmate Hyungwon called Kihyun to celebrate his birthday. On the phone, Hyungwon said: “It’s your birthday and you are cooking yourself. Makes me feel bad.”
