Minho of K-pop group SHINee said in a recent interview with fashion magazine High Cut that he was at first reluctant to take up a lead role in the movie “Two Men,” but changed his mind after a phone call from actor Ma Dong-seok.

“I felt it was pressurizing to play a main character in such a great movie,” said the 24-year-old. “I was not confident, I doubted whether my agency would be in favor of my taking the lead role.”

It was Ma’s phone call that helped him decide.

“Upon hearing his voice, I could make a decision (to act in the film)” he said. “He warmed my heart.”

In the interview, Ma said Minho reminds him of the past adversities he had to go through as an athlete-turned-actor.

“I was told thousands of times that I would never become an actor with my bulky body,” Ma said. “Despite the stereotype (he faces) as an idol group singer-turned-actor, Minho is enthusiastic in honing his acting skills.”

“Two Men” is set to open in local theaters on Nov. 30.

More details of the interview and photos can be seen in the December issue of High Cut.
