SBS’ drama “The Legend of the Blue Sea” premiered Wednesday with a solid viewer rating that was higher than the hit drama “Descendants of the Sun.”

“The Legend of the Blue Sea,” starring actor Lee Min-ho and actress Jun Ji-hyun, drew 16.4 percent in viewership rating for its first episode, according to Nielsen Korea on Thursday.

The high rating suggests the show could possibly overtake “Descendants of the Sun” in popularity, as the first episode of the latter had recorded a 14.4 percent viewership rating.
