Girls’ Generation leader Taeyeon released a surprise single, “11:11,” on Tuesday, and has already managed to take over local music charts.

The new single topped seven local music charts -- Olleh Music, Naver Music, Mnet, Bugs, MelOn, Soribada and Genie -- as of Wednesday morning.

Taeyeon demonstrates her trademark emotion-filled voice along with a melodic acoustic accompaniment as she sings about old memories of a former love.

The song’s music video garnered close to a million views within 10 hours of being released on YouTube.
