K-pop stars on Tuesday simultaneously bombarded social media with requests to fans to vote for them in the upcoming Asia Artist Awards.

The Asia Artist Awards is a new event that sets out to award artists from both K-Pop and K-Dramas based on their performance in 2016 in Korea and in Asia.

There are 160 artists for whom the fans can cast their vote.

As of Tuesday 5 p.m., the male groups with the most votes are EXO (7,176), Sechs Kies (4,316), BTS (3,318), BEAST (3,086), SHINee (2,628) and Infinite (2,079).

Among the female groups, Girls’ Generation is leading with 2,401 votes, followed by Twice (1,426) and I.O.I (1,070).

From a selection of 91 actors, Byun Baek-hyun is currently sitting on top with 5,896 votes, followed by Ryu Jun-yeol (4,047) and Park Bo-gum (3,106).

Rounding off the top five is Onew (2,325) and Song Joong-ki (2,006).

Out of 75 actresses, Yoona is leading with 2,402 votes followed by Song Hye-kyo (1,352) and Bae Suzy (979).

Kim Hye-soo (832) and Hyeri (576) complete the top five.

The preliminary vote closes on Oct. 22.

The top 50 artists will then go through another polling between Oct. 24 and Nov. 2 to narrow down the number to 10.

Finalists will be put to a vote between Nov. 3 and Nov. 12.
