Cable channel tvN’s weekend drama “The K2,” starring Ji Chang-wook and Yoona, saw a significant increase in viewer ratings over the weekend.

According to Nielsen Korea, “The K2” managed to garner an average of 6.8 percent viewership with a peak of 7.6 percent, on Friday’s episode.

This is particularly impressive because weekend figures are generally lower than the weekdays, but the figures indicate nearly double the viewership since its premiere.

The first episode of “The K2” gained a flurry of positive reviews and topped the weekend viewership with 3.8 percent.

Viewers have also raved about the cast’s acting, especially Yoona, who had faced doubts about her ability due to her status as a pop idol-turned-actress.
