Producers of KBS2’s prime-time variety show “2 Days, 1 Night” will remove Jung Joon-young, upon his request, starting Friday.

“Regardless of the prosecutors’ investigation result, Jung will leave the show upon his request for departure,” a production staff member was quoted as saying by Yonhap News Agency on Thursday.

“We would like to apologize to fans and fellow cast members of the show (for causing trouble).”

The upcoming Sunday episode, however, will feature the beleaguered singer and TV celebrity, according to producers.

The “2 Days, 1 Night” filming set Friday will continue to feature the remaining five co-hosts.

Jung is alleged to have taped sexual activities with his ex-girlfriend without her consent in August. The unidentified woman filed charges, though they were dropped a few days later. However, police have continued the investigation and sent the sexual crime case to the Prosecutors’ Office on Saturday.
