Actress Kong Hyo-jin spoke about the lead role she plays in SBS’ romantic-comedy series “Jealousy Incarnate” in an interview Wednesday.

“Jealousy Incarnate” has been seeing its viewer ratings soar, from 7.3 percent for its first episode on Aug. 24 to 13.2 percent Thursday.

When asked about the secret behind the show’s popularity, she said her depiction of a mediocre employee in a workplace, Pyo Na-ri, seems to “resonate with viewers.”

“My role is far from naive and innocent,” said the 36-year-old actress. “My character resembles many other ordinary woman in workplaces in that she may talk behind the back of her boss without hesitating. It seems to satisfy ordinary career women and resonate with them.”

Kong, who has the nickname “queen of rom-com,” is set to move away from the genre with a role as a mysterious babysitter in an upcoming movie “Missing: Lost Child” set to open nationwide on Oct. 11.
