CL, a member of 2NE1 rolled out the music video for her much-anticipated single “Lifted” on Thursday.

It shows CL clad in excessive jewelry and vivid colors, standing out from the crowd. She is seen roaming the streets of The Bronx in New York, dancing, partying and drinking a 1.2-liter bottle of beer wrapped in a brown bag.

Method Man from the legendary hip-hop group Wu-Tang Clan is also seen dancing with CL in a brief cameo appearance, as well as teenage fashion sensation Luka Sabbat.

The music video has drawn mixed reactions, with some viewers taking issue with her appropriation of African-American stereotypes and others praising her.

Many fans of 2NE1 and YG have expressed disappointment in CL for singing and rapping about drinking, partying, smoking marijuana and sex. They preferred the image and style she had adopted under the agency YG Entertainment.

“Lifted” has also been the topic of heated debate, as its release date clashed with Big Bang’s 10-year anniversary. However, its music video has already been watched over a million times within a day of its release.
