Minho‘s father is a soccer coach. In a September 2015 episode of “1 vs. 100,” a quiz program aired on KBC, Minho said that growing up watching his father devise soccer strategies made him want to become a soccer player. “I told my father when I was in fifth grade that I wanted to become a soccer player. My father was strongly against it, and that led me to give up my dream as a soccer player.” Minho says that he would like to try being a soccer commentator. “I think it’d be very fun to try it.”
Minho also talked about his brother in the show. “I was very envious of my brother when I was little. My older brother was always popular. He always received a lot of chocolates from girls on Valentine‘s Day. He was the type who excelled in sports, academics, and was good-looking. When I first prepared to become a singer, my family said my elder brother should be the one trying to be a celebrity since he is so popular and good-looking. My brother outperformed me in sports, academics, and a lot of things. However, there is one thing in which I surpassed him -- height,” Minho jokingly said. Minho‘s brother studied physical education at Seoul National University.

Jonghyun said in “Hello,” a program aired on KBS, in October of 2013 that his mother runs a daycare center. “So she still sometimes addresses me like she would a four-year-old.” He aroused laughter from the other panel members when he said on the show, “Mother, I am no longer a four-year-old. So please just call me, ’My son.‘ You don’t have to call me ‘My beloved son,’ or ‘My cute son’ anymore.” A little more than a year later, he said in the same TV program, “My mother stopped calling me 'My beloved son' or 'My cute son' after that episode aired. I didn‘t mean to, but I think I kind of hurt her feelings and deprived her of the happiness that she got by calling me ’My cute son.‘”
