‘Train to Busan’ grosses break-even point in 4 days

Korean zombie film “Train to Busan” has broken even just four days after its release, data showed Sunday.

The blockbuster “Train to Busan,” which has continued its four-day dominance since its release Wednesday, drew some 4.12 million local moviegoers in total as of Saturday. The film was watched by 1.28 million viewers on Saturday.

That is far more than the 3.4 million viewers the movie needed to cover its costs, according to reports.

Considering its popularity so far, the movie is on track to surpass the 5 million viewer mark on Sunday.

“Train to Busan,” starring actors Gong Yoo, Don Lee and actress Jung Yu-mi, centers on a zombie apocalypse on the Korean Peninsula and ordinary people’s struggle to escape from the havoc by boarding a high-speed trains.

The movie was screened in the Out of Competition section of the Cannes Film Festival in May.
