HyunA, a former member of South Korean girl group 4minute, made her return this weekend as a solo artist eager to display her talents before an international crowd.

The 24-year-old, whose five-member team disbanded last month, said she felt a lot of pressure being one of the few Koreans invited to perform at the Viral Fest Asia 2016 music festival in Bali, Indonesia.

"To be honest, I was very nervous," she told Yonhap News Agency in an interview Saturday. "I'm performing alone, joined by singers from all across Asia, so it was a challenge to sing as the face of K-pop."

Saturday's show brought together more than 30 teams from 12 Asian countries.

According to organizers, HyunA was invited because she has gained considerable influence in the global music market with her videos on YouTube and appearance in the mega hit music video for rapper Psy's "Gangnam Style."

"People might not believe me if I say I get nervous, but I tend to practice constantly to show a balanced performance," she said.
"I wanted to use this opportunity to display my potential and positive energy."

Once a member of the Wonder Girls, the singer said she's still working on her next album and has discussed her new songs with one of the group's members, known by her pseudonym HA:TFELT.

"She's one of those people who give others compliments and the courage to do well," HyunA said. (Yonhap)
