NCT 127
After releasing its first album “NCT #127 - The 1st Mini Album” on July 10, SM Entertainment’s newest K-pop group NCT 127 followed up by appearing on the V app on Saturday.

The group introduced each of its members’ backgrounds and ambitions. Yuta and Winwin are Japanese and Chinese respectively, adding to the multicultural mix of the boy band.

Yuta, who was originally from Osaka’s Kadoma city, is fluent in Korean as he has trained under SM Entertainment since 2011.

He said, “Winwin reminds me of the first few years after I arrived in Korea. I see myself in him and I want to help him (adapt).”

Yuta has also appeared in Korean shows such as “Non-Summit” in which he was part of a panel made up of foreigners who discuss cultural differences. Yuta’s idol is another SM Entertainment K-pop group, TVXQ.

Meanwhile, Winwin shared that he had learned Chinese traditional dance for six years at The Central Academy of Drama, which is one of three most influential art schools in China. He was scouted by the Korean entertainment agency in front of the school.

Member Tae-il opened up about the dilemma he had faced when having to choose between going to university and staying at the agency to work.

He said he had originally told the company he would stop working to continue studying, however, he was later persuaded by the company to remain. Tae-il added that he did not regret his decision.

NCT 127’s youngest member is Hae-chan who was born 2000. He said he began to dream of becoming a singer after watching K-pop group SHINee on TV.

“It was like fate. One morning, I woke up at 5 a.m. for no reason and turned on the TV. That’s when I saw the music video for ‘Replay’ for the first time and I knew instantly that singing and dancing was what I wanted to do too,” he said.

Jae-hyun said that he nurtured his dream of becoming a singer with a good friend, with whom he spent many hours playing the piano and guitar.

“While other kids played computer games we played musical instruments. It was thanks to this friend that I knew I could be truly happy playing music,” Jae-hyun said.
