Korean film “Canola” will open on about 5,000 screens in China in the second half of this year, according to Chinese distributor Lemon Tree.

Other Asian regions, such as Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand, the Philippines, Singapore and Vietnam, are still seeing competition for distribution rights.

The movie features the touching story of a grandmother and her granddaughter, played by actresses Youn Yuh-jung and Kim Go-eun, respectively.

“Canola” premiered locally on May 19, and had attracted 5,374 moviegoers as of Thursday.
