Onew of S.M. Entertainment boy band SHINee guest starred on KBS2 variety show “Our Neighborhood Arts and Physical Education,” which was broadcast Tuesday evening. On the show, the star revealed a touching behind-the-scenes story from the set of hit TV drama “Descendants of the Sun,” involving lead actor Song Joong-ki.

Onew, who played an eager and hygienically obsessed medical resident, talked about how Song lifted him up with warm advice. “I was completely edited out of the show’s pilot episode. It was my first solid acting gig on screen, so I was pretty disappointed,” the singer and actor explained.

“Then, I received a phone call from Song Joong-ki telling me that he had gone through the same experience before. He comforted me by saying that everything will go uphill from then on and we as actors should try to view the work from the audience’s perspective.”

Onew wrapped up the personal anecdote saying he was touched by Song’s words of advice and his attitude toward his career.

“Our Neighborhood Arts and Physical Education” airs every Tuesday at 11:10 p.m. on KBS2.
