Actress Kim Go-eun plays mysterious granddaughter

Actress Kim Go-eun, who starred in the popular drama “Cheese in the Trap,” will return with the film “Canola” in May.

The film centers on Gye-choon, a grandmother played by actress Youn Yuh-jung, and her granddaughter Hye-ji, played by Kim. Hye-ji returns home to Jejudo Island after disappearing for 12 years. Gye-choon does not know what happened during the years that her granddaughter went missing, but she is happy to have her back.

Kim is expected to realistically portray the grandmother-daughter relationship in the film, as she has personal experience living with her grandmother.

The film, directed by Yoon Hong-seung, will be released on May 19.
