Lim Na-young to take lead role in I.O.I

New girl group I.O.I‘s leader has been confirmed to be Lim Na-young, according to a news report Thursday.

According to Korean news outlet Star News, oldest member Lim was chosen as group leader after all 11 members -- Kim Chung-ha, Kim Se-jeong, Jung Chae-yeon, Zhou Jieqiong, Kim So-hye, Yoo Yeun-jung, Choi Yoo-jung, Kang Mi-na, Kim Do-yeon, Ennik Somi Douma and Lim -- put it to a vote.

Lim, 20, participated in the music competition program “Produce 101” -- aimed at creating an 11-member girl group out of 101 trainees with its viewers voting for their favorite -- as a trainee from Pledis Entertainment. She took 10th place in the final round of the 11-episode audition program.

Before Lim debuted as an I.O.I member Friday, she had potential opportunities to join After School and Hello Venus, both of which ultimately fell through.
