MBC’s prime-time TV drama series “My Daughter, Geum Sa-wol” ended with national viewership of 33.6 percent on Sunday, according to market research firm Nielsen Korea.

The drama series, starred actress Baek Jin-hee as the protagonist Sa-wol who was born an orphan and later turned out to be the daughter of a conglomerate owner. Viewership of early episodes of the series had hovered at around the 15 percent mark but had eventually increased due in part to the intriguing storyline that revolves around revenge.

The series had its fair share of critics who have described it as overly exaggerate and unrealistic.

Many viewers, however, were impressed by the storyline as can be seen from its high viewership ratings. Other programs that aired at the time slot include KBS 1TV’s “Jang Yeong-sil” and SBS’s “I Have a Lover,” which had viewership ratings of 10.8 percent and 5.7 percent, respectively.

The cast of “My Daughter, Geum Sa-wol” won awards at the MBC Drama Awards in 2015 for their acting on the series.
