Hyeri earns W6b from commercials thanks to ‘Reply 1988’
Hyeri from Girl’s Day has earned around 6 billion won ($4.9 million) from commercials as her TV series “Reply 1988” has become a megahit in South Korea, according to a local media outlet Edaily on Thursday.
The singer-actress will pocket half the earnings after sharing the profits with her agency DreamT Entertainment -- a common practice for a rookie celebrity in the Korean entertainment industry. Her contract with the agency, which was sealed in 2010, has yet not expired.
Thanks to the massive popularity of the drama, Hyeri is currently featuring in 13 commercials -- as diverse as smartphone app, bakery, sportswear and soft drinks.
Apart from Hyeri, other actors in the TV series have also become popular with advertisers. Actor Park Bo-gum, whose character is involved in a love triangle with Deok-sun (Hyeri) in the soap, rose to stardom with his good looks and easy charm. He is currently endorsing 10 brands. Actor Ahn Jae-hong, who played an easygoing and comic role, is also starring in nine commercials.
