The 24-year-old will play the role of Sophie, the daughter of mother Donna, who seeks to find her real father.

Seohyun gave a strong impression at the time of the audition with her typical delightful energy, and even prepared the diary -- the main trigger for Sophie to search her father -- in advance, to immerse in the scene she was about to play.

The zealous singer finally grabbed the spot despite the fierce competition, beating out about 350 others.

“Mamma Mia!” is a jukebox musical based on the songs of Swedish pop group ABBA. It originally kicked off in the West End of London in 1999 and has continued since, presenting performances in more than 40 countries.

The Korean version of “Mamma Mia!” is set to arrive after a long hiatus, following an overseas musical team that performed in Korea in 2013-2014.

Other competent musical actors and actresses will also participate in the musical, including Choi Jung-won, Jeon Soo-kyung and Hong Ji-min.

The musical will open from Feb. 24 to June 4 next year, taking place at Charlotte Theater, Seoul.
