Actor Ryu Seung-ryong gave a pep talk to a high school senior who came to see him at “The Sound of a Flower” movie showcase on Wednesday, with only eight days remaining before the national college entrance exam.

Those who came to the showcase had been asked at the entrance to write questions on sticky-notes for the actors to answer onstage.

The high school senior’s note read: “I came here despite Suneung. May I please take a photo with you?”

Ryu read it out loud and replied, “Try not to be nervous. Regardless of the results, you have done well.”

Ryu then beckoned the student up onto the stage where the whole cast of the movie joined to take a photo.

“The Sound of a Flower” features Ryu Seung-ryong and Suzy as main actors. Ryu acts the mentor of Suzy, cast as Korea’s first female pansori singer Jin Chae-sun, who fought against odds to perform on stage in a time when it was forbidden for women to sing in public.

“The Sound of a Flower” will release on Nov. 25 in Korea.
