This will be Suzy’s return to the silver screen three years after “Architecture 101,” in which the singer-actress played the teenage version of the main female character.
In the upcoming film “The Sound of a Flower,” Suzy will play Jin Chae-sun, the first female pansori (traditional Korean narrative music) singer in history. She will be portrayed as passionate and brave, risking her life in overcoming the then-social taboo of a woman singing.
At the movie’s press conference, Suzy said she took a year’s worth of pansori lessons in order to perform believable acts in the movie.

Do Ra-hee, a playful pun of a name hinting at the Korean word for wacko “ddo-ra-ee,” goes through the realistic challenges and frustrations of a rookie entertainment news reporter. Under hard-to-please supervisor Ha Jae-gwan (Jung Jae-young), Ra-hee is discouraged from voicing her own opinions, eventually giving up her after-work evenings and tempted to resign.
Park’s costar Jo Jung-suk’s silver screen role immediately after “Oh My Ghostsess” was that of a journalist too, in “The Exclusive: Beat the Devil’s Tattoo,” a coincidence industry watchers are finding amusing.
“The Sound of a Flower” and “You Call It Passion” will release simultaneously on Nov. 25.
