Crime-action film “Veteran” is expected to overtake the period flick “Assassination” in terms of ticket sales this week, according to KOBIS, a box-office tracking service of the Korean Film Council, Tuesday.

“Assassination” had sold a total of 12,652,000 tickets, with “Veteran” closely trailing behind with 12,542,000 tickets.

Film observers said the ranking will change this week, given that “Veteran” is now being shown on 622 screens with a 4.3 percent reservation rate, while “Assassination” is available on 358 screens with a 1.1 percent reservation rate.

The two films both set records last month by breaking the 10-million in ticket sales mark. “Assassination” had the advantage of being released two weeks ahead of rival “Veteran,” but the latter has narrowed the race, with just 109,586 moviegoers separating them.
