YG Entertainment announced Tuesday that Sandara Park from K-pop girl group 2NE1 has been cast in KBS’ Web drama “Missing Korea,” along with actor Kim Jeong-hoon.

She will play the representative of North Korea in a Miss Korea Beauty Pageant jointly held by South and North Korea. The drama is a romantic comedy, drawing the story of the relationship between the characters if Park and Kim, who plays the head of the contest’s organizing committee.

Park, 32, is currently working on her North Korean accent in preparation for shooting the drama.

“In the month that the drama is set to be aired, family reunions between two Koreas’ separated families will also be held. We hope the upcoming drama can be a help in conveying the possibility of carrying out culture exchanges between the two Koreas,” said the production crew.

The drama is slated to be aired next month, with the exact date yet determined.
