The new MBC series “She Was Pretty” will be Choi Si-won’s last TV role before he starts his mandatory military service.

“Because it’s my last role before I go into military service, I’m working very hard on set and I feel a sense of responsibility,” said the boy band singer-turned-actor at a press conference for the new series in Seoul on Monday.

Though Choi did not specify the time period, his agency SM Entertainment previously announced that he would be entering the service “sometime within the year.”

In the upcoming series, Choi will play Kim Sin-hyuk, the charming and humorous feature editor of a fashion magazine, alongside Hwang Jung-eum, Park Seo-joon and Go Joon-hee.

“He’s an enigmatic character that is difficult to understand, even as I’m playing him,” Choi said of his character.

“She Was Pretty” will air on MBC on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 9:55 p.m. from Sept. 16 and is set to run for 16 episodes.
