Kim Soo-hyun, Kim Tae-hee to headline Korean drama fest

Actor Kim Soo-hyun and actress Kim Tae-hee will headline South Korea's only festival for Korean TV dramas expected to kick off next month, organizers said Wednesday.

The 8th Korea Drama Festival will run from Oct. 1-11 in Jinju, South Gyeongsang Province, some 434 kilometers southeast of Seoul.

Kim Soo-hyun is running for the Grand Award for Performance, the highest honor, at the Korea Drama Awards, which is part of the festival. His role in KBS 2TV's "The Producers" will be considered.

His chief competitors include actors Ji Sung and Joo Won for their lead roles in MBC's "Kill Me, Heal Me" and SBS' "Yongpal," respectively.

Kim Tae-hee, meanwhile, is nominated for the Best Female Performance award for her role in "Yongpal." She will compete against Kim Hee-seon in MBC's "Angry Mom," Park Shin-hye in SBS' "Pinocchio," Jang Na-ra in KBS 2TV's "I Remember You" and Hwang Jung-eum in MBC's "Kill Me, Heal Me."

The award ceremony will take place at the Gyeongnam Culture & Art Center on Oct. 9. It will air live on the portal website Naver.

The festival also consists of a drama soundtrack concert, a K-pop concert and various exhibits. The K-pop concert will be headlined by the boy band VIXX. (Yonhap)
