The 42th Korea Broadcasting Awards were held Thursday at MBC in Seoul and the grand prix went to MBC’s popular reality show “Infinite Challenge.”

Running for 10 years each Saturday, “Infinite Challenge” has been well received by the public for its social resonance and creative “challenges” including biannual music festivals and food deliveries for Koreans living overseas.

“Entertainment programs are not just produced by one talented producer or a scriptwriter. Each and every one of the entire staff and the cast has a conspicuous share,” said the show’s chief producer Kim Tae-ho. “I always have heavy pressure and sometimes want to just run away. But what brings me back to the studio is every staff member and the cast.”

The main emcee Yoo Jae-suk then walked up to the stage and extended his gratitude toward the staff, while Park made a hilarious acrostic poem on the spot with “Dae-sang,” leaving viewers in stitches.

EXO won the first award for K-pop singers. Three members -- Suho, Baekhyun and Chanyeol -- went up to the stage and received the trophy and flowers.

“I would first like to thank our fan club, EXO-L,” said Suho, the group’s leader, adding, “We’ll keep on trying our best.” The speech was short, but impressive.

The annual Korea Broadcasting Awards, founded in 1973, honors those with outstanding achievements in the entertainment industry.
