Actor Kim Woo-bin will not claim an appearance fee for taking part in a video aimed to support indie film works, he said Tuesday.

“Independent art films give an impetus for growth,” said the 26-year-old star, “I hope this promotional work helps the genre to gain more footing among moviegoers.”

Kim will model for various campaigns and CGV’s Cine Library’s promotional video.

An influential actor in South Korea as one of the leads in the hit TV drama “The Heirs” (2013) and the main character for the North America-exported movie “Twenty” (2014), Kim’s support for indie films is expected to direct more audience toward the genre that has so far been largely out of the spotlight.

The star donated books worth several million won to the CGV’s Cine Library, specializing in cinematography books along with financial support for production of an indie film.

Kim is to act alongside singer-actress Suzy in the upcoming TV drama “Uncontrollably Fond,” slated for 2016.
