The following table displays a roundup of major TV drama series being aired on South Korea’s terrestrial broadcast networks. Listed below are the new TV drama series set to premiere in September.
1. She Was Pretty

An MBC drama slotted for Wednesdays and Thursdays, “She Was Pretty” is an upcoming series starring Hwang Jung-eum, Park Seo-joon, Choi Siwon and Go Joon-hee. The director of the TV drama is Jeong Dae-yoon, famous for his previous work “Arang and the Magistrate” (2012) and “The King 2 Hearts” (2012). The writer of the show, Cho Sung-hee is also known for her famous work, the South Korean sitcom series “High Kick!,” where she worked with Hwang Jung-eum.
“She Was Pretty” is a romantic comedy featuring two friends who meet again and fall for each other after each going through a huge transition in their lives.
It will air its first episode on Sept. 16 at 10 p.m.
2. Mother (working title)

The MBC TV drama with the working title “Mother” is a South Korean series starring Cha Hwa-Yeon, Jang Seo-hee, Kim Seok-Hun and Lee Tae-sung. Oh Kyung-hoon is the director of the drama and Kim Jung-soo is the writer. Oh also directed many other famous Korean dramas including “Love Letter,” (2003) “Phoenix” (2004) and “Beethoven Virus” (2008).
“Mother” is about a dedicated mom who is abandoned by her children, having a delightful twist of a “mom” seeking a war of revenge against her children.
It will air its first episode on Saturday at 8:45 p.m.
3. My Daughter, Gumsawall (working title)

Another MBC TV drama with the working title “My Daughter, Gumsawall” is a South Korean television series starring Baek Jin-hee, Yoon Hyun-min, Jeon In-hwa, Park Se-young and Son Chang-min. Baek Ho-min is the director of the drama, having also directed MBC’s “Jang Bo-ri is Here!” in 2014. The writer of the drama is Kim Soon-oak, who wrote “Jang Bo-ri is Here!” working together with Baek.
The drama’s focus is family, where the main character Gumsawall seeks for hope in restoring an entirely destructed family unit full of revenge and animosity.
The first episode will air on Saturday at 10 p.m.
4. The God of Trade -- Gaekju 2015 (working title)

A KBS drama with the working title “Gaekju” is a South Korean television series scheduled to air after the end of the currently broadcasting “Assembly” and will star Jang Hyuk, Yu Oh-seong, Kim Min-Jung and Han Chae-ah. The director of the drama is Kim Jong-sun, who wrote a number of historical dramas including 2005’s “Dae Jo Yeong” and 2011’s “Gwanggaeto, The Great Conqueror.”
“Gaekju” is based on a historic fiction of the same name and is the success story of a merchant becoming a business magnate.
The TV drama is set to premiere on Sept. 23 on KBS2.
