Model Jung Doo-ri turned down the offer from Maxim Korea to make the cover amid a dispute over the magazine’s latest photo reminiscent of sex crime.

Jung, who won the Maxim girl contest last year, left a comment on her Facebook account, saying, “As a Maxim contest winner in 2014, I was supposed to make the cover of Maxim this year. However, after I saw the cover photo of this month’s issue, I was deeply concerned about the magazine’s view on women and decided not to appear as a model.”

She added, “Despite the fact that many women are still being raped and killed by male criminals, the magazine beautified the violence.”

In the cover photo, actor Kim Byeong-ok, who played villains in movies “New World” and “Old Boy,” poses beside a girl whose legs are tied with box tape.

Maxim said it just wanted to portray an evil force through photography.
