Moon So-ri has become the first South Korean actress to attend the Locarno Film Festival as a jury member, her management agency said Friday.
Moon attended the opening ceremony and the red carpet event of the festival in Locarno, Switzerland, on Wednesday and "received the spotlight as a world-class actress representing South Korean cinema," C-JeS Entertainment said.
Moon is the third South Korean to become a Locarno jury member after directors Hong Sang-soo and Im Sang-soo in 2009 and 2012, respectively. She, however, is the first South Korean actress to achieve the feat.
Prior to Locarno, Moon has served as a jury member at several international film festivals, including in Busan, Jeonju, Tokyo and Cairo.
She is scheduled to vote for the winner of Locarno's competitive awards and introduce "Actress," a film she directed in 2014, and "Oasis," a 2002 South Korean movie starring Moon, before returning to her home country on Aug. 16.
This year's Locarno Film Festival started Wednesday and will end Aug. 15. (Yonhap)
