‘Assassination’ to break 5m, on collision course with ‘MI5’

Hollywood blockbuster “Mission: Impossible -- Rogue Nation” might stump the growth of latest box-office hit “Assassination.”

Starring 54-year-old veteran actor Tom Cruise, the fifth installment of the “Mission: Impossible” series opened Thursday in Korea after much anticipation.

“Assassination,” released eight days earlier, was closing in on the 5-million ticket sales mark as of Thursday morning.

The period action film starring actress Jun Ji-hyun broke the 2-million mark in just four days, setting a new record for Korean movies.
Industry watchers are closely following the race.
