K-drama roundup: SBS, KBS, MBC

The following is a roundup of major TV drama series being aired on South Korea’s terrestrial broadcast networks.

1. High Society
(SBS) |
“High Society” is an SBS drama starring Uee, Sung Joon, Park Hyung-sik and Lim Ji-yeon.
In the drama, Jang Yoon-ha (Uee), a part-time worker at a food market yet the youngest daughter of a chaebol family, develops a romance with Choi Joon-ki (Sung Joon), a manager for a conglomerate.
The drama is coming to an end on Tuesday, with two episodes left.
2. Mask

“Mask” is the SBS drama starring Soo Ae, Ju Ji-hoon, Yeon Jeong-hun and Yu In-young.
A woman of a modest background, Byeon Ji-sook (Soo Ae) has the identical visage of a woman named Eun-ha, who is from a wealthy family. The plot gets complicated as Ji-sook, pretending to be Eun-ha, weds into a wealthy family under a prearranged marriage.
The remaining two episodes of “Mask” will air Wednesday and Thursday.
3. The Time We Were Not in Love

Premiered on June 27, “The Time We Were Not in Love” portrays a romance between Oh Ha-na (Ha Ji-won) and Choi Won (Lee Jin-wook), who have been best friends since high school but were never a couple.
The remaining six episodes of “The Time We Were Not in Love” are set to clarify the relationship between Ha-na and Won.

1. I Remember You

Seo In-guk as profiler Lee Hyun and Jang Na-ra as detective Cha Ji-an appear on the KBS drama “I Remember You.” The drama focuses on the relationship between Hyun and Ji-an who try to solve complicated crime cases as a team. The relationship between the two continues to blossom as the plot develops.
“I Remember You” airs every Monday and Tuesday at 10 p.m.
2. Assembly

“Assembly” depicts a realistic scene of the National Assembly of Republic of Korea starring many top actors including Jung Jae-young, Song Yoon-a, Ok Taecyeon and Park Young-gyu.
The show’s writer Jung Hyun-min, with an experience of working in Parliament, tries to capture every angle of the political arena.
The fifth episode of “Assembly” will air Wednesday.
3. House of Bluebird

“House of Bluebird” is a family-oriented drama starring many actors including Lee Joon-hyuk, Chae Soo-bin, Lee Sang-yeob and Kyung Soo-jin.
It airs on KBS2 on Saturdays and Sundays at 8 p.m. for 50 episodes since Feb. 21.

1. Splendid Politics

MBC drama “Splendid Politics” features actors including Cha Seung-won, Lee Yeon-hee, Kim Jae-won and Seo Kang-joon.
Set in the Joseon era, “Splendid Politics” is the story of Princess Jeongmyeong, who lives as a commoner after she is banished from the palace by his half-brother, Prince Gwanghae.
It airs on Mondays and Tuesdays at 10 p.m. for 50 episodes since April 13.
2. Scholar Who Walks The Night

Starring actors Lee Joon-gi, Lee Yoo-bi and Lee Soo-hyuk, “Scholar Who Walks the Night” is a vampire drama set in the Joseon era.
The drama draws a lot of fans as actor Lee Joon-gi plays the lead role of a vampire scholar and TVXQ’s Shim Chang-min plays the supporting role of crown prince.
It airs every Wednesday and Thursday at 10 p.m.
3. Flower of the Queen

Starring Kim Sung-ryung, Lee Sung-kyung, Lee Jong-hyuk and Yoon Park, “Flower of the Queen” centers on two characters, Rena Jung (Kim Sung-ryoung) and Park Min-joon (Lee Jong-hyuk), who is naturally drawn to Rena.
At the same time, Min-joon’s younger stepbrother Park Jae-joon (Yoon Park) is attracted to Kang Yi-sol (Lee Sung-kyung), Rena’s abandoned daughter.
The intertwined story of various characters reaches its climax as more secrets are revealed.
It airs on MBC on Saturdays and Sundays at 9:45 p.m. for 50 episodes since March 14.
