Supermodel and television personality Jang Yoon-ju will make her acting debut in the crime action film “Veteran” in August.

“Veteran” is directed by Ryoo Seung-wan and stars male actors Hwang Jung-min, Yoo Ah-in, Yu Hae-jin and Oh Dal-su in the lead roles.

Jang plays a supporting role as Miss Bong, the sole female agent in the regional investigation unit. Miss Bong is a “refreshingly honest,” feisty and skillful agent, according to the film’s makers.

“Miss Bong is a very attractive character, so the casting process for her drew a lot of attention,” said director Ryoo, as cited by local media. “In contrast to other actresses, Jang is ... able to deliver a distinctive appeal and individuality (to) Miss Bong.”

Ryoo also praised Jang for working hard during filming.

Jang said, “It was a lot of pressure, but I trusted director Ryoo Seung-wan and my costars. Since Miss Bong’ personality is quite similar to mine, I wanted to deliver a good performance.” The supermodel said she hoped the film would show the energy she poured into her first acting role.

“Veteran” is a dark comedy thriller following an investigative team chasing corrupt and self-entitled wealthy heirs.

Jang has enjoyed success as a fashion supermodel and also has a side career as a musician. She has also featured in TV reality programs like “Infinite Challenge.” Recently, she married a businessman in May.

“Veteran” is scheduled for release on Aug. 5.
