New romantic TV drama “High Society,” starring K-pop singer Uee in the lead role, aired its first episode Monday to the worst performance in the time slot.

“High Society” features singers Uee, from After School, and Park Hyung-sik, from ZE:A. Other lead actors in the SBS drama series are Sung Joon and Lim Ji-yeon.

The first episode, which aired Monday at 10 p.m., racked up 7.3 percent in nationwide viewers and 7.7 percent in metropolitan areas.

The most-watched TV show was KBS music program ”Gayo Stage” with 12.7 percent, followed by MBC period drama “Splendid Politics” at 10.2 percent.

“High Society” was also outstripped by KBS2 TV high school drama “Who Are You: School 2015,” which recorded 7.7 percent in nationwide viewers, according to Nielsen ratings.

Uee had only a short break from the small screen since concluding her tvN rom-com drama ”Hogu’s Love” in March.

In “High Society,” Uee plays Jang Yoon-ha, the youngest daughter in an immensely wealthy family searching for true love.

In the first episode, Yoon-ha tried to hide her privileged background while working part-time at a food mart in a department store.

She also sat through a match-making session set up by her family, but had water splashed over her head by potential suitor Chang-su (Park Hyung-sik). Another male character, Joon-gi (Sung Joon), meanwhile has his eyes set on her.

“High Society” airs every Monday and Tuesday at 10 p.m.
