Actor Song Joong-ki is readying himself for the tough guy transformation in his upcoming drama “Descendants of the Sun.”

In the drama, Song will play the role of an Army captain opposite Song Hye-kyo, who will play a female volunteer medic serving in a disaster zone.

According to reports, Song has been working on his physique since before his discharge from the military last month, and is staying in shape for the role.

The drama will be fully produced before being launched in the second half of the year.

“Song Joong-ki is currently resting and preparing for the drama. He is said to have worked out since before his discharge,” an official with Song’s agency was quoted as saying by the local media.

The official also said that Song’s noticeable more solid physique is likely to be the result of the military service and regular exercise.
