Rumors are brewing that the members of K-pop girl group Secret share a difficult relationship with each other, following comments made by one member Jung Ha-na on an entertainment program Monday.

“I’m a nonalcoholic who really doesn’t drink alcohol,” said Hana. “The most severe case is (group member) Song Ji-eun. When (another group member) Jun Hyo-seong drinks alcohol, she becomes really excited.” Hana added that she had heard Hyoseong laughing in the bathroom while intoxicated.

“When (group mate) Han Seon-hwa gets a little drunk, she becomes really dissatisfied with the world. She keeps grumbling and grumbling,” said Hana.

Seonhwa responded to the comments on Twitter, Tuesday, together with a photo of Hana making the comments about her.

“Just because I said three years ago over drinks with the group that I am upset about my ingenuous image, (Hana) said that I am dissatisfied with the world,“ said Seonhwa. Seonhwa implied that she (Seonhwa) had made the comments “just once.”

The wording in the original Korean carries a sarcastic and incredulous tone.

Seonhwa also wrote on a fan club website that she was “astounded” by Hana’s comments, according to local reports.

“I know that entertainment is just entertainment, but I made the remarks three years ago to get advice from Hana about something I was struggling with,” said Seonhwa. “If this problem could have been resolved long ago, I wouldn’t have written the comments on Twitter. Please understand (fans) that there is a lot you don’t know about this matter.”

In response to rumors, quartet Secret’s agency said, “There is no discord whatsoever between the members. The rumors are nonsense. (Seonhwa) just wanted to defend herself in case she had appeared badly on television. (Hana and Seonhwa) are not on bad terms on an everyday basis. We are not taking these ridiculous rumors seriously.”

The group’s agency TS Entertainment also said just a few days before the incident, the group had convened to organize an overseas meeting.

The controversial comments were broadcast on Monday at 6 p.m. on the Mnet entertainment program “Yaman TV.”
