Actor Cha Seung-won will star in the animation “Minions” as a voice actor, the film’s producers revealed Monday.

At a press conference for the film’s Korean release, Illumination Entertainment chairman Chris Meledandri revealed that Cha will be part of the team that dubs the film for Korean audiences.

“Minions” is a spin-off from the film “Despicable Me” (2010) and follows the antics of the minions as they try to steal a crown.

Cha, a veteran model-turned-actor, recently received a boost to his career when his culinary prowess was displayed in the cable show “Three Meals a Day,” earning him the moniker “Chajumma,” a combination of his name and the Korean word for a middle-aged woman.

Cha was not present at the press conference but said “this is my first dubbing project. I hope (the public) gives it much attention,” in a prerecorded message.
