South Korean director Choi Dong-hun’s new film, “Assassination,” will hit the cinemas in Singapore in September, industry sources said Wednesday.

The film, starring Jun Ji-hyun and Lee Jung-jae, recently saw its rights sold to a distributor in charge of the film market in Singapore.

The movie is expected to draw attention from local film buffs and hallyu fans in Singapore, many of whom are familiar with Jun, who heightened her status in Asia with a high-profile role in the hit TV drama “My Love from the Star.”

Jun is to play an independence fighter and sniper during the Japanese colonial period, while Lee is assigned a role of a level-headed state agent. Both Jun and Lee had starred in director Choi‘s 2012 hit movie “The Thieves.”

The movie, set in Shanghai and Seoul in the 1930s, is expected to incorporate plenty of gun blasts into the vibrant nightscape of the old cities.
