MBC’s new drama telling the story of a vampire in the Joseon era will kick off in July, the broadcaster said Tuesday.

The series, whose title translates to “the scholar who walks the night,” stars Lee Joon-gi and Shim Chang-min, or Max Changmin of the K-pop duo TVXQ.

The drama follows the developments that take place after a quiet scholar is revealed to be a vampire.

The series is based on a webtoon of the same title, which has yet to conclude.

“Appealing elements of the original will be kept alive, but additional characters will be put in and the story will be filled out,” the producers of the drama said.

“As the original has not been concluded, the drama will have a unique appeal in the story development and conclusion.”
