Television personality Kim Na-young married a noncelebrity, who is a financial businessman, on Jeju Island Monday.

The surprise wedding was announced on her Instagram, Monday, along with photos taken of Kim and the wedding car.

"Today, I have become the wife of ... my best buddy who has consistently supported me for just under two years," wrote Kim in the photo caption.

The small-scale wedding ceremony was attended by about 10 close friends and family members. The newly-married couple plan to spend their honeymoon together with friends on Jeju Island for the next few days.

Kim's management said her husband is a businessman employed in the finance industry, but declined to disclose further details, such as his age, specific job or personality, due to his noncelebrity status. The company requested the media to respect the couple's privacy.

Kim's wedding comes as a surprise, since she has not publicly talked about her boyfriend, in spite of her regular appearances on Korean television.

"Ever since I was in university, I didn't want a burdensome formal wedding," said Kim through her management on Monday. "(My husband) also expressed his desire that the wedding allow us to completely focus on each other."

Kim, 33, wore a 1920s-inspired simple wedding dress and headdress, together with fuschia-colored shoes for her wedding.

"Even though I've become a wife, I won't be afraid of challenges," said Kim on Instagram. "What has changed is that I am more stable with (someone) beside me."

Kim, who is one of Korea's best-known television personalities, said that she is looking forward to enjoying married life with her supportive husband.
