The superhero blockbuster "Avengers" sequel has grossed over $201 million from ticket sales worldwide, with Korea ranking top.

"Avengers: Age of Ultron" has been released in 44 countries, but has yet to open in North America, China, Mexico and Spain.

About 14 percent of its total sales worldwide stem from Korean theaters alone, amounting to about $28.2 million, according to American box office rankings.

"A large portion of the movie is set in South Korea, and a handful of the Avengers swung through (Seoul) last week as part of their worldwide promotional tour," said American website, Box Office Mojo, which tracks box office revenues. The action film also stars Korean actress Claudia Kim in a supporting role.

The film's next biggest market was the U.K., where it grossed $27.3 million, becoming the country's most successful superhero film debut.

"Avengers: Age of Ultron" is the fastest-selling foreign film in Korean film history, selling over 3 million tickets within four days of its release on Thursday.
