South Korean actor Lee Joon-gi has joined the cast of the forthcoming MBC TV series “The Scholar Who Walks the Night,” according to his label Namoo Actors on Thursday.

Lee is set to play seductive vampire scholar Kim Sun-yeol in the historical drama set in the Joseon Dynasty.

Based on a popular comic book of the same title, “The Scholar Who Walks the Night” features a scholar who dreams of an idyllic country where everyone can live without worries.

Lee Sung-jun, whose past works include the hit dramas “Moon Embracing the Sun” and “Empress Ki,” will helm the series along with Jang Hyun-ju, a scriptwriter behind the drama “Coffee Prince.”

It was reported that singer-actor Changmin of K-pop boy group TVXQ is to play a role in the upcoming drama.

The drama is scheduled to air every Wednesday and Thursday from July.
