Korean supermodel Jang Yoon-ju is engaged to marry a businessman in the fashion industry in May, following five months of dating.

Local media outlet Dispatch broke the news on Monday that the supermodel plans to marry her boyfriend, who is four years younger than her, on May 29 at 6 p.m. at Somang Presbyterian Church in Sinsa-dong, Seoul.

A spokesperson for Jang confirmed the report and said the couple, who first met last autumn, has been in a relationship since January.

"Jang and her fiance will have a low-key but tasteful wedding ceremony," said the source, who said the private ceremony would only be open to family, close friends and select acquaintances.

Jang's boyfriend manages a fashion design company and is said to share similar interests with the supermodel.

"(Jang’s fiance) has a positive mindset so it's likely they will suit each other," said the source.

The 34-year-old supermodel, who featured in Harper’s Bazaar Korea's March issue, surprised the fashion magazine's staff when she announced plans to tie the knot this year.

On Tuesday, Jang thanked those who had extended congratulations, posting a photo on Instagram with her and her boyfriend.

"He is hard-working and gentle. He is a good person," said Jang, who hopes to be "best friends for the rest of her life" with her future husband.

Jang, who was most recently spotted on the runway at Seoul Fashion Week, said she will now start planning her wedding.

Jang has become one of the most recognizable faces in the fashion industry in a career spanning almost two decades since her debut in 1997. The supermodel has also enjoyed minor success as a singer.
