K-pop boy band F.T. Island will prerelease a track “To the Light” on Tuesday in the run-up to its fifth album release.

The upcoming “To the Light,” composed and written by a member and bassist Lee Jae-jin, is the Korean version of the eponymous track from the 14th Japanese EP.

When the tune was unveiled in Japan last October, it claimed the top spot on the music charts of Japan’s music streaming site DWANGO and the biggest record store HMV.

The song embodies the members’ determination to move forward despite trials, errors and concerns about their music, the quintet’s label FNC Entertainment said.

“‘To The Light’ was hugely popular abroad, so we decided to put out a Korean version of the song,” said an official from the label.

“Check out Jaejin’s low-pitched, mellow tone that goes well with vocalist Lee Hong-ki’s charismatic high-pitched tones.”

The pop-rock band, which debuted in 2007 in Korea, entered the Japanese market in 2008 with the album “Prologue of F.T. Island.” The group has enjoyed popularity in Japan, becoming the first foreign male band to top the nation’s Oricon Daily music chart.

Its fifth studio album is scheduled for release in Korea on March 23.
