MTV expressed great expectations on 2NE1’s member C.L.’s U.S. debut next year, as a part of its wide coverage of famous Asian pop-stars.

An article posted on its home page on Dec. 26, featured YG Entertainment’s attempt to advance into the U.S. market. MTV forecast that CL is the best K-pop bet that the agency has under its belt, to open the gate to the U.S. pop market. The diva is unique from other successful Asian stars, such as Psy.

“Many Asian artists have sought a broader stage in the West, including Wang Rong, BABYMETAL, and above of all, Psy,” the article stated. “But now they are seen as some eccentric Internet sensations that were eventually brushed aside for a new meme. However, the multilingual CL seems set to dig her feet into the (U.S. pop industry).”

MTV’s speculation on CL is reflective of the singer’s interview with the Billboard. “I want to represent Asian women,” she said. “I want to break that typical Asian female stereotype.”

MTV exalted CL to the skies as the one who will take the lead in promoting Asian pop music in the U.S.

A week ago, MTV spotlighted the 2NE1 leader, calling her an all-rounder.

CL recently signed a contract with Scooter Braun, a famous American talent manager who owns two record labels.
