Twice tops annual album sales among K-pop girl groups
(JYP Entertainment) |
The nine-member act sold more than 347,000 copies of "TWICEcoaster: LANE1," the band's third and latest EP that was released on Oct. 24, JYP Entertainment said in a press release.
This is the top EP sales record for all K-pop girl groups in 2016.
An EP sales of 50,000 or more is generally considered a success for a girl group in South Korea, according to industry experts.
Since its debut in October 2015, TWICE has been constantly raising the bar in its EP sales. Its debut EP "The Story Begins"
sold 100,000 copies as of recently, with its second EP "Page Two" almost doubling in sales at 180,000 copies.
"(Twice) sold as many as 627,000 copies in only 14 months since debuting. This is a difficult record to achieve for any girl group," said an official of JYP Entertainment. (Yonhap)
